Practice Notes: Intermediate Band

Oct 14-16

  • We will play lines #15, #27 and #17 for the Nov 9 (10 am) Living Legacy Homeschool Group at Prairie Hills Covenant Church
  • Three scales: Concert B-flat Major (Line #5), Concert F Major (line #10) and Concert E-flat Major (line #16).
  • Percussion – practice nine stroke rolls taught in line #19
  • 2 Concert pieces handed out “Christmas in Scarborough” and “Fireworks”. Make sure to keep the original copy in your folder and only write in pencil on it.

Oct 7-9

  • Three scales: Concert B-flat Major (Line #5), Concert F Major (line #10) and Concert E-flat Major (line #16). Know the key signature and fingerings for each key
  • Continue to practice Old Hundredth (#15), Report Card Blues (#17) and #18
  • On page 6 practice line #26 #27 and #28
  • Percussioh – practice nine stroke rolls taught in line #19
  • Concert piece handed out “Christmas in Scarborough”. Make sure to keep this origianl copy in your folder and only write in pencil on it. We rehearsed through measure 46 together. Remember tempo change at 20

Sept 30-Oct 2

  • New Concert piece handed out “Christmas in Scarborough”. Make sure to keep this origianl copy in your folder and only write in pencil on it.
  • Three scales: Concert B-flat Major (Line #5), Concert F Major (line #10) and Concert E-flat Major (line #16). Know the key signature and fingerings for each and start working on memorizing Concert F-flat if it is not yet memorized
  • Continue to practice Old Hundredth (#15), Report Card Blues (#17) and #18 as I will come back to these again in rehearsal
  • Practice all lines on page 6

  • Practice page 5 lines #22 and #23, practice ahead to page 6 as we will get to these lines hopefully next week

  • We rehearsed through line #17 last week in rehearsal. Continue practicing all lines on page 4 – remembering the accents in #17
  • Practice forward to page 5

Sept 2-4

  • Three scales: Concert B-flat Major (Line #5), Concert F Major (line #10) and Concert E-flat Major (line #16)
  • Continue practicing all lines on page 3 and then go on and practice all lines on page 4, remembering to be aware of which key signature (which scale) you are playing out of in each line…. KNOW YOUR SHARPS, FLATS OR NATURALS before you play every time!!!!

August 26-28

  • Concert B-flat Major Scale (Line #5) and Concert F Major Scale (line #10)
  • Practice line #6 and #7 on page 2
  • Begin working on all lines on page 3 with our new key signature
