Week of April 8 – 10

  • #83 Concert B-flat Major Scale
  • Concert Pieces on page 20-21; March Across the Seas, Procession, Indigo Rock, and Banana Boat
  • Brass – practice pg 18 #71, 72 and 73 and pg 22 #79 (also mouthpiece only)
  • Reminder that rehearsal on Wednesday, Apr 22 will be everyone together at 12 noon

Week of Feb 25-27

  • Percussion practice line #48 (Flam Tap and Flam Paradiddle), #60 (multiple bounce stroke exercise), #73 (Flam Accent and ghost sticking) and #79 (sixteenth notes)
  • Concert B-flat Major Scale line #83
  • Practice all lines on page 17
  • Concert piece on page 20 “March Across the Seas” and we will start “Procession” next week so please practice ahead and be ready

Week of Feb 18-20

  • Brass practice page 40 Chop Builder 2A
  • Percussion practice line #48 (Flam Tap and Flam Paradiddle), #60 (multiple bounce stroke exercise), and #73 (Flam Accent and ghost sticking)
  • Concert B-flat Major Scale line #83
  • Begin practicing all lines on page 17
  • We started our first Concert piece on page 20 “March Across the Seas”, continue working on that piece and we will start the others on pages 20-21 soon so look ahead and practice any/all of them
  • If you do not have a tuner at home, I use the app on my iPhone “Tuner Lite” to tune students during rehearsals. It is free. It would be great for all students (not percussion) to have the ability to tune themselves at home as well, as we learn to control our tone and balance better this semester.

Week of Feb 4-6

  • Continue practicing Improvisation with line #55
  • Practice all lines on page 16 and remember to think about the Key Signature (the sharps/flats next to the clef) in line #58-B
  • We learned line #61 and the new 3 beat note – dotted half note. Begin working on line #62.
