Week of Feb 4-6
- All Dordt Honor Band musicians – focus on having your Honor Band music ready… We will meet at 5:00 pm at Sioux Center Pizza Ranch and wear our band shirts on Saturday
- Concert Pieces for our next rehearsal: “The Peanut Vendor” (which still needs A LOT of work!!) and “Great Movie Adventures” (which is coming together nicely!)
Week of Jan 28-30
- “The Peanut Vendor” – there is a link from last week to watch a live video recording of this music
- “Great Movie Adventures” – if you do not know the theme music from the movie ET, here is a link to familiarize yourself with it before we start playing that part of the piece. This is a live video of John Williams (the American composer of all amazing movie themes!) conducting the performance. Know the name John Williams and his face… he is an iconic American composer that we should all be familiar with!

Week of Jan 21-23
- Handed out our first Concert Piece, “The Peanut Vendor.” I cannot find any link of this music to the Muppets, so I guess we were wrong on that. But it sure sounds like it, doesn’t it? It was composed in the Cuban style and first recorded in the 1930’s. I found the 1970’s live recording below that gives a strong instrument feel to the piece. Please listen to the link below:

- Below are links to the two pieces we are playing in the combined concert with the Dordt Campus Band. Please select the Audio icon to listen and become familiar with them to help prepare us for rehearsing it together. Music to “The Curtain Rises” and “Foundry” will be coming soon.
